My neighbors hate me. Thank God no one can see me on this corner of the balcony.
If your summer has been anything like mine, you’ve been searching for the best in anything that comes your way and trying to make even the most boring of tasks into a party. My sunny days in the dirty south have been spent driving around lonely roads lined with palm trees trying to get into mix cds laying around my car and Lady Gaga’s Born This Way. David Heartbreak has finally satisfied my craving for sexy jams with the Moombahsoul Vol. 1 mixtape, featuring moombahton favorites like Munchi and Sonora and remixes of soul gold like John Legend and The Weeknd. I don’t know what you’ve been listening to this summer, but if it’s nearly as hot where you are as it is in Texas – ’tis the season for moombah. Get it while it’s fresh. My summers have always revolved around the hidden gems in the stacks of mix cds I have packed into nearly every compartment of my car. Some of my favorites have been stolen, shared, and passed around, making me notorious for making classic playlists to last a lifetime (okay, maybe just a summer).
This week, I finally received my first mix cd the way most of mine have been lost. I didn’t remind my chum to take his cd back, but I did pull out a sharpie and make him name it for me. Included on Jonathan’s Titsmix No.1 was “I Want You (So Bad)” from Clive Tanaka y Su Orquesta’s Side A for Dance. Side A is rhythmic foreplay for Side B: romance, of which the first track is very sexy bossa nova a la Thievery Corporation.
According to the Last.fm bio of Clive Tanaka y Su Orquesta (which is a must-read, btw) Clive withdrew from society for 11 years and locked himself in his bedroom, only to emerge with some of the sexiest nu wave that is only achievable with the company of nothing but a keyboard and some disco tapes.

If it doesn’t trip me out, I’m usually bored or far from impressed. I’m only talking about music videos, so don’t get any ideas. My recent moombahton addiction has shaped my appetite for new music, moving panty-dropping beats high above all else. It’s summertime, so it’s time to party without pants and take it down to the beach.
I credit Gang Gang Dance’s latest album Eye Contact for getting me through a grueling finals week and fueling the conception of a hot valley summer. In a way, it was being a swagtastic mindkilla that helped me survive another year in Syracuse and will be the reason I’ll still be able to get down in a town that makes no sound. Happy Summer y’all! I hope you’re chillin just as hard as I am.
Other than this being one of my favorite Star Slinger remixes, i find it ironic that the still for this particular YouTube upload is/was my ex-roommate’s desktop background. He was always jealous of my “Dutchie Courage.”
“Lonely C” Download
Lately it’s been the trippiest of videos that I find the most intriguing. Usually it’s the kind of tunes that put you in a daze, but it’s hard for me to sit still and watch the video for “Lonely C” at the same time. This post-disco jam snuck its way into my iTunes library and straight into my heart (have i used that one before?). Check out more of Soul Clap’s sex-infused dance music on SoundCloud.

I wanna be your friend, I wanna ask your advice on the weekday, I wanna plan something nice on the weekend. – “Friend Crush”
There’s nothing more frustrating than crushing on someone you have no reason to spark hot conversation with. The same frustration resonates in my search for Friends, Brooklyn’s latest lo-fi offspring. “Friend Crush” is Friend’s debut single, reeking of the same mysterious innocence of a 19 year old “virgin.” Stream my latest band crush below and download “Friend Crush” HERE.
